Reading salon reviews beyond the star rating

Check what reviews actually describe, how the sample was collected and whether the information fits your proposed duo appointment.

Check the service and branch behind the number

A salon-wide rating may include nails, facials, individual massages and other services. It is not automatically a rating of its couples treatment. Start with the branch address, then look for relevant details about the appointment you want: simultaneous therapists, room arrangement, booking communication and the handling of preferences. Do not assume that a comment about a different branch or treatment describes your proposed visit. Keep the rating as one part of your shortlist, alongside the documented offer and the practical conditions.

Use more than a single headline

ACM ConsuWijzer advises checking several reviews and sources, considering the sample size, reviewing the display order and reading how authenticity is checked. Positive and negative comments can both be misleading. Apply that guidance to your booking: look for patterns in relevant experiences instead of deciding from one enthusiastic or disappointed account. A review badge is not a promise that your own appointment will be identical. When something matters to you, ask the salon directly and retain its answer with the confirmation.

Understand this directory’s confidence score

Our calculated score is separate from a platform star rating. It uses a fixed prior and the largest single documented platform sample; it does not sum Google and Treatwell counts. A small sample is moderated more than a large sample. A missing score means current documented rating evidence is absent, not that the provider failed an inspection. The method does not measure personal compatibility, accessibility or massage pressure. Use the methodology page to understand the calculation before interpreting a percentage as a quality guarantee.

Turn concerns into clear questions

If recent comments mention something relevant, ask a concrete question rather than accusing the provider of a problem you have not experienced. For example, ask whether your selected treatment uses a shared room or whether the confirmed time includes changing. Decide whether the answer addresses your requirement. When leaving your own review, describe the actual branch, treatment and what happened without publishing private health details or staff contact information. If our listing has a factual error, use its correction form with a source; an experience review and a data correction serve different purposes.
