Changing or cancelling a couples massage: what to check

Keep the booking terms for both guests clear. Check deadlines, rescheduling, deposits, late arrival, vouchers and the provider’s written confirmation.

Read the terms before confirming the pair

A two-person appointment can reserve a room and two practitioners, so changing it may have different consequences from changing one individual booking. Before payment, locate the cancellation and rescheduling terms and keep a copy with the confirmation. Check whether the conditions belong to the actual branch, booking platform or promotional voucher you are using. Do not assume a policy from another salon, an earlier visit or a general comparison guide applies. Ask the provider to clarify any conflict before you agree rather than trying to reconstruct the arrangement after plans change.

Turn the deadline into a date and time

A rule expressed as a number of hours can be easier to miss than a calendar reminder. Ask when the deadline falls for your appointment and which contact method counts as notice. Keep the provider’s local time in mind if booking while travelling. Clarify whether you need an acknowledgement and how to reach the salon when it is closed. Save any message you send. A platform cancellation button, a voicemail and a message to a social-media account are not necessarily treated in the same way by the booking system.

Separate rescheduling from cancellation

Moving an appointment and ending it may have different conditions. Ask whether a deposit transfers, whether a new date must be chosen within a set period and whether a fee changes closer to the appointment. NAVISH and Sawan Nana publish their own policies, illustrating that you need the selected provider’s current terms. Avoid relying on a universal free-change window. This guide does not determine your statutory rights: provider policies and consumer law are separate questions. For Dutch consumer-rights guidance or a dispute, consult the current ACM ConsuWijzer information linked below.

Plan for a change affecting only one guest

Ask what happens if one person cannot attend. Can another guest take their place, can the remaining person keep an individual appointment, and how does that affect price or room allocation? A couple package may have inclusions that do not translate directly into a single service. Also ask about late arrival: the salon may not be able to extend the visit when another appointment follows. If someone becomes unwell or has a health concern, contact the provider promptly and seek appropriate healthcare advice where needed rather than assuming attendance is the only financial option.

Keep the payment and voucher trail

Retain the service description, full price, payment confirmation and applicable terms. For a voucher, distinguish the voucher’s validity from the change rules for a particular reserved date. A valid voucher does not itself guarantee a room or two therapists at your chosen time. If the salon changes the service or cannot deliver it, ask for the proposed solution in writing and consult consumer guidance if you disagree. Clear records help both sides identify what was booked; they are more useful than a screenshot of a price without the treatment, branch and date.
